Kathmandu – Part 1/2

Did you know that the royal family of Nepal was massacred Romanov style in 2001? There are still many conspiracy theories related to the event and it arguably launched the country into “democracy” after centuries of monarchy.

Day 12: Ama Dablam BC and Tengboche

There were about 20-30 tents at the BC. A guide for an Italian couple we encountered on the way up told us that there were about 20 climbers that week trying to summit Ama Dablam. We watched a group leaving base camp heading up to camp 1 that morning.

Day 11: Chukhung Ri

Our journey continues in the Himalayas. This is our hike on Day 11 up Chukhung Ri which has a gorgeous panoramic view including the north face of Ama Dablam.

Day 9 & 10: Chukhung

When we woke up on Day 9, our mindset had already shifted from strenuous climbing to leisure descending.

Day 8: Kala Patthar

Day 8 marks the highest point we reached in our trek: 18,514 feet or 5,644m. Say hi to Everest!

Day 7: Dzongla to Pyramid

After an exhausting day crossing Cho La, we, still in recuperation mode, found ourselves a wonderful little high mountain refuge called Pyramid.

Day 6: Cho La Pass

Our toughest day on this trek. It was a bit scary at times. I am thankful to have gone through it safely and get to blog about the experience.
